ExtraMonitor - XM is a network optimization gateway for Deep Packets Inspection (DPI) of Enterprise Network Management and Bandwidth Utilization. It controls network behavior on over 600 kinds of Layer 7 applications and allocate bandwidth utilization to solve bandwidth problems.

Solution for Bandwidth and Behavior Management

* XM supports new generation Layer 4 to Layer 7 bandwidth management. In addition to port-based management, XM can identify and assign bandwidth for different internet applications including various IM and P2P applications, over 600 kinds of applications.

* XM adopts "Inline Mode", i.e. the device is placed between the Internet and the main network switch. No major change towards the network architecture is required. And ensuring all internet traffic are effectively monitored with the appropriate network filtering to guarantee the quality and the security of the network.

* Complimenting with Sammas XK (ExtraKeeper) or XS (ExtraSniffer) solution, the enterprise can also achieve network content recording so as to further enhance the network behavior control and security management.


Application and Value added of IM & P2P

* Non-traditional Internet applications like ICQ, MSN Messenger, BitTorrent, etc., have led to their rapid adoption by end users. These IM and P2P applications have become the major internet applications for many school, community, and enterprise network for interpersonal communication and information sharing.

* Certain internet applications, especially ERP, VoIP, and video conferencing, require a stable and sufficient bandwidth to maintain their quality of service. The unaware internet applications utilization contributed from Internet chatting, online game, web browsing, even downloading illegal software, can consume most bandwidth of Network and Internet and result in poor performance for mission critical or bandwidth sensitive applications. Even worse, trade secret may be leak through IM and P2P applications unnoticed.
